Ex-Servicemen Age Relaxation: The total defence service period will be deducted from the current age of the ex-serviceman. The resulting age must not exceed the upper age limit by more than 3 years. Candidates dismissed from army service for misconduct/incapacity are not eligible.


Selection Process for MP Police Constable Band Recruitment 2026:

The Band recruitment process is conducted in three stages:

Stage 1 – Skill Test:

A screening Skill Test is conducted to shortlist candidates for the Band Playing Test. The candidate must demonstrate knowledge of at least one instrument from List “A” (mandatory). Playing an instrument from List “B” is desirable and earns bonus marks. No marks are awarded in the Skill Test itself — it is qualifying only.

Stage 2 – Band Playing Test:

The Band Playing Test carries a total of 75 marks:

Minimum qualifying marks in Band Test:

  • General / OBC / EWS: 50% (i.e., 37.5 out of 75)
  • SC / ST: 40% (i.e., 30 out of 75)

3 times the number of advertised posts (vertical category-wise) will be called for an interview based on cut-off marks.

Stage 3 – Interview:

Candidates who qualify the Band Playing Test are called for an Interview carrying 25 marks. Marks are awarded based on trade knowledge, NCC background, sports achievements, personality, communication, and general knowledge. Final selection is based on the combined total of Band Test marks + Interview marks (100 marks total).

Priority / Bonus Marks for Special Categories

Candidates from the following special categories receive an additional 5% bonus marks on their Band Playing Test score:

  1. Up to 2 dependents of soldiers who died in the recent India-Pakistan conflict
  2. Surplus election staff
  3. Surplus government employees
  4. Surplus 1981 census staff
  5. Contingency fund employees / charged employees
  6. NCC candidates with a ‘C’ certificate
  7. Indian citizens who came from Burma and Ceylon

Pay Scale & Salary:

  • 1st Year: 70% of minimum pay
  • 2nd Year: 80% of minimum pay

In addition to basic pay, candidates will receive DA, HRA, TA, and other allowances as sanctioned by the Government from time to time. For employees appointed on or after 01 January 2005, the National Pension System (NPS) / Defined Contribution Pension Scheme is applicable.

Medical / Health Standards

The following health standards are verified by the District Medical Board:

  • Height and Chest measurements as per the table above
  • Eyesight: No eye disease. Minimum vision without glasses: 6/9 in one eye and 6/12 in the other eye. Must be able to distinguish primary colours (tested via Ishihara plates)
  • Feet: No knock-knee or flat foot
  • Body: Must not have any disability of any kind

Health examination is done at District → Divisional → State Medical Board levels. Videography of medical examination is conducted. A Gazetted Police Officer must be present at each level of medical examination.
