UKMSSB Professor Recruitment 2026: The Uttarakhand Medical Service Selection Board (UKMSSB) has released the official notification for Professor and Associate Professor Recruitment 2026 in Government Medical Colleges of Uttarakhand. Eligibility Criteria

Nature of Post

The post is gazetted and carries a contributory pension.

Educational Qualification

Qualification is as per the latest NMC-TEQ Regulations – Minimum Qualifications for Teachers in Medical Institutions Regulations, dated 30 June 2025.

Preferential Qualifications

All else being equal, preference in direct recruitment will be given to candidates who have:

  • Served a minimum of 2 years in the Territorial Army, OR
  • Obtained a National Cadet Corps (NCC) ‘B’ Certificate

Medical Council Registration

Candidates must hold a valid/renewed registration certificate with the medical council of any state in the country, up to the last date of online application. Note: For non-clinical subjects, candidates holding an M.Sc (Medical)/Ph.D medical degree are not required to have Medical Council registration.

Nationality

The candidate must be a citizen of India; or a Tibetan refugee who came to India before 1 January 1962 with the intention of permanently settling in India; or a person of Indian origin who has migrated from Pakistan, Burma, Sri Lanka, or the East African countries of Kenya, Uganda, and the United Republic of Tanzania, with the intention of permanently settling in India.

Character, Marital Status and Physical Fitness

  • The candidate’s character must be suitable for government service. Persons dismissed from service under the Central/State Government or a local authority/corporation under their ownership/control are not eligible.
  • A male candidate with more than one living wife, or a female candidate with more than one living husband, is not eligible unless the Government is satisfied there is a special reason to grant an exemption.
  • The candidate must be physically and mentally fit, free of any physical defect likely to interfere with the efficient discharge of duties. A fitness certificate from the prescribed Medical Board is required before appointment to a gazetted post. Physical fitness for PWD candidates will be assessed as per their disability category certificate from an authorised medical practitioner.

The cutoff date for age calculation is 01 July 2025. For Uttarakhand’s Scheduled Castes, Scheduled Tribes, and other notified categories, the upper age limit will be higher by as many years as specified in the applicable rules.

Age Relaxation

  • SC/ST/OBC (Uttarakhand): 5 years relaxation in maximum age (as per Government Order No. 1399/XXX(2)/2005 dated 21 May 2005).
  • Dependents of Uttarakhand Freedom Fighters: 5 years relaxation (Government Order No. 1244/XXX(2)/2005 dated 21 May 2005).
  • Divyangjan (Persons with Disability) of Uttarakhand: 5 years relaxation (Government Order No. 1244/XXX(2)/2005 dated 21 May 2005).
  • Ex-Servicemen of Uttarakhand: As per Notification No. 6/1/72-Karmik-2 dated 25 April 1977, actual age is reduced by the period of armed forces service, provided the resultant age does not exceed the prescribed maximum age limit for the post by more than 3 years.
  • Orphan Children: Age relaxation provision as per Uttarakhand Government letter No. 11/XXXI(2)/2022-30(2)2019 dated 16 February 2022.

As per Government Order No. 79293/XXVIII(5)/2022-(E-22311) dated 28 November 2022, a 50% allowance under the Medical Teachers Deficiency Compensatory Scheme is admissible for postings in hilly areas, namely Srinagar and Almora.

Paper publications will be considered valid as per the notifications applicable at the time they were approved by MCI/NMC. Experience is counted only in complete years (365 days); any period of absence is excluded from the experience calculation. Only the experience, paper publication, and additional qualification details entered in the online application will be considered – claims made later during document verification that were not entered online will not be considered by the Board.
