Indian Overseas Bank Recruitment 2026: Indian Overseas Bank (IOB) has released the official notification for the recruitment of Local Bank Officers (LBO) 2026-27. According to the notification, IOB is inviting online applications for 250 Local Bank Officer vacancies in JMGS-I (Scale-I) across Tamil Nadu, Karnataka, Maharashtra and Gujarat.

Educational Qualification

Candidates must possess a Degree/Graduation in any discipline from a university recognized by the Government of India or an equivalent qualification recognized by the Central Government.

The candidate must have a valid mark sheet/degree certificate and be a graduate on the date of registration. Candidates are also required to enter their graduation percentage in the application form.


Age Limit

The age eligibility is calculated as of 1 August 2026.

Candidates must have been born:

  • Not earlier than 2 August 1996
  • Not later than 1 August 2006

The prescribed age limit for Local Bank Officers is 20 to 30 years.

Salary

The post is in JMGS-I / Scale-I.

The pay scale mentioned in the notification is:

₹48,480 – ₹2,000/7 – ₹62,480 – ₹2,340/2 – ₹67,160 – ₹2,680/7 – ₹85,920

DA, HRA, CCA and other allowances/perquisites will be provided according to the Bank’s rules in force from time to time.

Probation Period

Selected candidates will be on probation for 2 years of active service from the date of joining the Bank.

Service Bond

Selected candidates are required to execute a Financial Service Indemnity Bond of ₹2,00,000 for rendering service for a minimum period of 3 years.


Selection Process

The selection process consists of:

  1. Online Examination
  2. Language Proficiency Test (where applicable)
  3. Personal Interview

Candidates qualifying in the online examination will proceed to the LPT where applicable, followed by the Personal Interview.


Exam Pattern

The online examination will contain 140 objective-type questions for 200 marks with a total duration of 3 hours.

Reasoning and Computer Aptitude, General/Economy/Banking Awareness and Data Analysis & Interpretation will be available in English and Hindi, while English Knowledge will be in English.

Negative Marking

There will be a penalty for wrong answers. One-fourth (0.25) of the marks assigned to the question will be deducted for every incorrect answer.

There is no penalty for unanswered questions.

Minimum Qualifying Marks

There are no sectional qualifying marks.

The minimum qualifying aggregate marks in the online examination are:

  • Reserved candidates: 30%
  • Unreserved candidates: 35%

Language Proficiency Test

Candidates must demonstrate proficiency in reading, writing and speaking the local language of their selected state.

Candidates who studied the specified local language as a subject in Class 10 or Class 12 and provide the relevant certificate/marksheet will not be required to appear for the LPT.

Candidates required to take the LPT must qualify in it to proceed to the Personal Interview.


Personal Interview

The Personal Interview will carry 100 marks.

Minimum qualifying marks are:

  • Reserved candidates: 45%
  • Unreserved candidates: 50%

The final selection will be based on the combined performance in the Online Examination and Personal Interview.

Final Selection Weightage

The weightage of the two components is:

  • Online Examination: 80%
  • Personal Interview: 20%

The final merit list will be prepared state-wise and category-wise.
