CPCL Recruitment 2026: 60 Junior Engineering Assistant Posts – Apply Online

CPCL Recruitment 2026: Chennai Petroleum Corporation Limited (CPCL) has released a recruitment notification for 60 Junior Engineering Assistant-IV vacancies in Production, Mechanical, Electrical and Instrumentation disciplines. The recruitment is being conducted under Advertisement No. 01 of 2026 – CPCL/HRD:03:055 dated 14 August 2026.

Overview

CPCL is a Navratna Public Sector Organization and a Group Company of Indian Oil Corporation Ltd., engaged in hydrocarbon processing, with a refining capacity of 10.5 MMTPA in Chennai, Tamil Nadu.

Vacancy Details:

A total of 60 vacancies have been notified for four disciplines:

The vacancy distribution includes current as well as backlog vacancies under different reservation categories.

Educational Qualification

Junior Engineering Assistant-IV (Production)

Candidates must have either:

• 3-year Diploma in Chemical / Petroleum / Petrochemical Engineering/Technology; or
• B.Sc. with Chemistry as a major subject.

The qualification must be from a recognized institution/university. Candidates generally require 60% marks for General/OBC/EWS and 55% for SC candidates against reserved positions.

In addition, candidates must have at least 3 years of relevant post-qualification work experience in continuous process units in industries such as refining, chemical, petrochemical, fertilizer or gas processing.

Junior Engineering Assistant-IV (Mechanical)

Candidates must possess a 3-year Diploma in Mechanical Engineering with:

• 60% marks for General/OBC/EWS candidates
• 55% marks for SC/PwBD candidates against reserved positions

Candidates also require a minimum of 3 years of relevant post-qualification experience in maintenance of rotary and stationary equipment in refinery, petrochemical, chemical, fertilizer, power plant or large industrial establishments.

Junior Engineering Assistant-IV (Electrical)

Candidates must have a 3-year Diploma in Electrical or Electrical & Electronics Engineering with the prescribed minimum marks.

A minimum of 3 years of relevant post-qualification experience in electrical equipment maintenance is required. Experience may include motors, transformers, generators, HT/LT switchgear, UPS, battery banks, battery chargers and variable-frequency drives in continuous-process industries.

Junior Engineering Assistant-IV (Instrumentation)

Candidates must have a 3-year Diploma in one of the following:

• Instrumentation
• Instrumentation & Electronics
• Instrumentation & Control
• Electronics & Communication

The prescribed minimum marks are 60% for General/OBC/EWS and 55% for SC candidates against reserved positions.

Candidates also require 3 years of relevant post-qualification experience in process-control instrumentation maintenance. Knowledge of preventive/breakdown maintenance, troubleshooting, field instruments, transmitters, control valves, DCS/PLCs, P&ID and logic control diagrams is specified.

Important Qualification Conditions

CPCL states that prescribed qualifications must be strictly followed. Candidates possessing higher professional qualifications such as B.E., B.Tech, MBA, CA, LLB, MCA or equivalent qualifications are not eligible, and possession of such higher qualifications at joining may result in cancellation of appointment.

Age Limit

The maximum age limit is 30 years as on 1 July 2026.

Age Relaxation

The notification specifies that cumulative age relaxation is not available in combination with other relaxation provisions.

Salary

Selected candidates will be appointed in the Non-Supervisory Cadre (Grade IV) with an IDA pay scale of:

₹25,000 – ₹1,05,000

The starting basic pay will be ₹25,000 per month. Selected candidates will also be entitled to applicable benefits such as DA, HRA/Self-Lease, PF, Gratuity, LTC/LFA, medical expense reimbursement and superannuation benefits as per CPCL rules.

Application Fee

The ₹500 registration fee is non-refundable and must be paid online through SBI e-pay using a debit card, credit card, UPI or net banking.

Selection Process

The selection process consists of:

1. Computer Based Test (CBT)
2. Document Verification
3. Skill, Proficiency and/or Physical Test (SPPT)
4. Medical Fitness

The SPPT will be qualifying in nature.

CBT Exam Pattern

The CBT will carry 120 marks and consist of:

The General Aptitude section covers Verbal Ability, General Knowledge, Reasoning/Logical Deduction and Numerical Ability. The Discipline Knowledge section contains questions related to the relevant technical discipline.

There is a negative marking of ¼ mark for every incorrect answer, and the examination duration is 2 hours.

Candidates generally need to secure at least 40% marks in the CBT to qualify for consideration for SPPT. A 5% relaxation in minimum qualifying marks applies to SC/ST/PwBD candidates against reserved positions.

The CBT is tentatively scheduled for September/October 2026 in Chennai only.
