CSIR NGRI Technician Recruitment 2026: The CSIR-National Geophysical Research Institute (CSIR-NGRI), Hyderabad, has released Advertisement No. 01/2026 dated 05 September 2026 for recruitment to 21 Technician (1) / Group-II (1) posts in various trades. CSIR-NGRI is a premier research and development institute under the Council of Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR), Ministry of Science and Technology, Government of India.

Educational Qualification:

Candidates should have SSC/10th Standard or equivalent qualification with Science subjects and minimum 55% marks along with any one of the following requirements:

• ITI Certificate or National/State Trade Certificate in the relevant trade.
• Two years of full-time experience as an apprentice trainee from a recognized institution in the relevant trade.
• Three years of work experience in the relevant trade in a Ministry/Department/Organization/Public Sector Undertaking/Autonomous Body under Government of India, State Government, or Union Territory.

CSIR NGRI Technician Trade-wise Qualification:

• Minimum Age: 18 years
• Maximum Age: 28 years

The notification specifically fixes 28 years as the upper age limit and 18 years as the minimum age for Technician posts.

Age Relaxation

Salary:

• Selected candidates will be appointed in Pay Level-2: ₹19,900 – ₹63,200

Selection Process:

The selection process consists mainly of:

Stage 1 – Trade Test

Candidates shortlisted by the Screening Committee will be called for a Trade Test designed to assess practical knowledge related to the relevant trade/job requirement.

Stage 2 – Competitive Written Examination

Only candidates who qualify the Trade Test will be eligible to appear in the Competitive Written Examination.

The final merit list will be prepared on the basis of performance in the written examination. Importantly, Paper-I works as a qualifying/threshold paper, while the final merit is prepared using marks secured in Paper-II and Paper-III.

Exam Pattern:

The Competitive Written Examination will be an OMR-based or Computer-Based Objective Type Multiple Choice Examination.

Paper-I: Mental Ability Test:

Duration: 1 Hour

Topics include:

• General Intelligence
• Quantitative Aptitude
• Reasoning
• Problem Solving
• Situational Judgement

The official exam scheme provides 50 Mental Ability questions carrying 100 marks, with no negative marking in Paper-I.

Paper-II

Duration: 30 Minutes.

Paper-III: Concerned Subject

Duration: 1 Hour
