SCI Recruitment 2026: The Shipping Corporation of India Ltd. (SCI) has released an official recruitment notification for the post of Chief Manager (Legal) under Advertisement No. HR 05/2026. Vacancy Details

SCI has announced one vacancy for Chief Manager (Legal) in E6 Grade, under the Law specialization. The vacancy is categorised as Unreserved (UR).

Educational Qualification

Candidates must possess a full-time Bachelor’s Degree in Law or a Post Graduate Degree in Law from a college approved by the Bar Council of India, with at least 60% marks.

A Company Secretary (CS) qualification is listed as a desirable qualification.

Experience Required

Candidates must have at least 13 years of post-qualification experience in a Corporate Legal Department.

Applicants should also have hands-on experience in areas such as:

• Drafting and vetting commercial contracts and deeds
• Civil and criminal litigation
• Arbitration proceedings, including AMRCD
• Labour and service matters
• RTI compliance
• Corporate governance
• Merchant shipping conventions

Experience/Pay Requirement for PSU and Government Candidates

Candidates working in PSUs, PSBs, Central Government or State Government organizations must have completed at least 2 years of service in the immediately previous E5 grade, carrying an IDA scale of ₹80,000–₹2,20,000, or equivalent pre-revised CDA/IDA scale.

Requirement for Private Sector Candidates

Private sector candidates must currently be drawing a minimum Gross CTC of ₹19 lakh per annum.

The organization where the candidate is employed must also have had an average annual turnover of ₹75 crore or more during the last three financial years ending 2025-26. Private sector applicants must submit audited balance sheets as proof of turnover.

Job Profile

The selected candidate will handle a broad range of legal responsibilities, including:

1. Civil and criminal litigation, service matters and RTI matters.
2. General arbitration and arbitration under the Administrative Mechanism for Resolution of Commercial Disputes (AMRCD).
3. Drafting, reviewing and interpreting agreements, pleadings, bonds, affidavits, deeds, claims, notices and contracts.
4. Corporate and industrial laws, corporate governance and commercial documentation.
5. Representation before Conciliation Officers, Labour Courts and Tribunals.
6. Merchant shipping matters and international shipping conventions.
7. Providing or obtaining legal opinions on commercial, litigation and general legal matters.

Age Limit

• The upper age limit is 45 years as on 1 August 2026.
• Candidates should therefore not have been born earlier than 1 August 1981.
• Age relaxation for PwBD and Ex-servicemen candidates will be applicable according to Government of India guidelines. However, the maximum age after all applicable relaxations should not exceed 50 years as on 1 August 2026.

Salary and Pay Scale

The Chief Manager post is in E6 Grade with an IDA pay scale of:

₹90,000 – ₹2,40,000
