BTC Assam Teacher Recruitment 2026 – 852 Graduate Teacher and Post Graduate Teacher Vacancies, Eligibility and Selection Process

BTC Assam Teacher Recruitment 2026: The Office of the Director of Education, Bodoland Territorial Council (BTC), Kokrajhar, Government of Assam, has released four recruitment advertisements for Post Graduate Teacher (PGT) and Graduate Teacher (GT) posts in government and provincialised secondary schools.

According to the official notifications dated 4 November 2026, a total of 852 teaching vacancies have been announced. These include 91 Post Graduate Teacher vacancies and 761 Graduate Teacher vacancies.

Eligible Indian citizens who are permanent residents of the BTC area can apply, subject to the prescribed educational, professional and other eligibility conditions.

The recruitment will be conducted through a Teachers Eligibility Test-cum-Recruitment Test (TET-cum-Recruitment Test). The online application schedule and further instructions will be published on the official BTC Education website.

Educational Qualification

The educational qualifications differ according to the teaching post.

PGT Educational Qualification

Candidates applying for Post Graduate Teacher posts must have:

• A Master’s degree/Postgraduate degree in the relevant subject from a recognized university.
• At least 50% marks or equivalent in the concerned postgraduate qualification.
• A Bachelor of Education (B.Ed.) degree from an institution recognized by the National Council for Teacher Education (NCTE).
• The concerned subject must have been studied at degree level.

For PGT Vocational posts in Accountancy and Auditing and Office Management, an M.Com degree is required along with the prescribed B.Ed. qualification.

Graduate Teacher (Arts) Qualification

Candidates applying for Graduate Teacher (Arts) posts must possess:

• A Graduate or Postgraduate degree in Arts or Commerce from a recognized university.
• At least 50% marks in either Graduation or Postgraduation.
• A B.Ed. degree from an NCTE-recognized institution.

Graduate Teacher (Science) Qualification

Candidates must possess:

• A Science Graduate or Postgraduate degree from a recognized university.
• At least 50% marks in Graduation or Postgraduation.
• A B.Ed. degree from an NCTE-recognized institution.

Graduate Teacher (Hindi) Qualification

The notification provides alternative academic qualifications, including prescribed Pravin/Ratna qualifications or a degree with Hindi as a subject, with the required 50% marks, along with the prescribed B.T./B.Ed. qualification.

Graduate Teacher (Sanskrit) Qualification

Candidates must possess the prescribed Shastri or degree-level Sanskrit qualification, with the required 50% marks, and a B.T./B.Ed. degree from a recognized university.

Graduate Teacher (Santali) Qualification

Candidates must have an Arts graduate or postgraduate qualification with at least 50% marks, a B.Ed. degree from an NCTE-recognized institution, and the prescribed Santali language qualification.

Medium-wise language requirements: Candidates must also satisfy the relevant language requirements for the medium of the school, such as Assamese, Bengali, Bodo, Hindi or English, as applicable. Bodoland Education+2

Selection Process

The selection of candidates will be based on the Teachers Eligibility Test-cum-Recruitment Test, additional eligible weightage and document verification.

TET-cum-Recruitment Test – 140 Marks

Additional Marks

Candidates may receive additional marks under the prescribed recruitment rules:

• NCC: 5 marks for a C Certificate and 3 marks for a B Certificate.
• Recognized national-level sports participation representing Assam: 5 marks.
• Fine Arts and Cultural Activities achievements representing Assam officially at the national level: 5 marks.
• Earlier Higher Secondary TET-qualified candidates (PGT): 5% of TET marks secured, subject to a maximum of 5 marks.
• Earlier High School TET-qualified candidates (GT): 5% of TET marks secured, subject to a maximum of 5 marks.
• Eligible candidates engaged on a six-month contractual basis by BTC in 2025 in Mathematics and Science subjects may receive an additional 5 marks.

Merit List

• PGT merit lists will be prepared separately, subject-wise.
• Graduate Teacher merit lists will be prepared separately stream-wise.
• The number of qualified candidates in the TET-cum-Recruitment Test will generally be maintained at a 1:1 ratio of advertised vacancies.
• Up to two additional merit lists may be published if vacancies remain unfilled after the first merit list.
• In case of a tie in aggregate marks, the older candidate will receive preference.
