Selection Process

The selection of candidates will be done through an interview only. There is no written test mentioned in the notification.

  1. Shortlisting: Candidates who fulfil the prescribed eligibility criteria are considered for shortlisting. They are shortlisted on the basis of aggregate marks scored in the qualifying course/examination, in order of merit, in the ratio of 1:10 (maximum) to the number of vacancies in each discipline and category.
  2. Interview: The suitability of shortlisted candidates is assessed by a Selection Committee by way of Interview. The date, time and venue will be intimated to shortlisted candidates only via e-mail, and the list of shortlisted candidates will be hosted on the HAL website.
  3. Final Selection: Selection against the posts notified for each Discipline is made based on performance in the Interview. Candidates must secure at least 50% marks in the Interview to qualify (relaxation for SC / ST / PwBD candidates as per rules).

How shortlisting works: all Unreserved candidates of each discipline, along with SC / ST / OBC-NCL / EWS candidates of that discipline who do not avail any relaxation, are grouped together, arranged in descending order of merit and called in the ratio of 1:10 in the UR category. SC / ST / OBC-NCL / EWS candidates not shortlisted under UR are regrouped with their respective categories and called in the ratio of 1:10 in their respective category. If marks in the qualifying examination are the same, the candidate who is elder or senior in age is considered first. Merely meeting the qualification does not entitle a candidate to be shortlisted for the Interview.

Application Fee

The application fee is ₹500, inclusive of 18% GST.

Candidates belonging to the following categories are exempted from paying the application fee:

  • SC
  • ST
  • PwBD

The fee, once deposited, is non-refundable.
