ICF Apprentice Recruitment 2026: Integral Coach Factory (ICF), Chennai, has released the official notification for Act Apprentice Recruitment 2026-27 under the Apprentices Act, 1961. A total of 1,010 apprenticeship training slots are available across various trades, including Fitter, Electrician, Machinist, Carpenter, Painter, Welder, MLT (Radiology & Pathology), and PASAA.

Eligible candidates can submit their applications online through the official ICF apprenticeship portal from 8 August 2026 to 7 September 2026. Preference will be given to candidates from Tamil Nadu.

Candidates with higher qualifications than 10th/Matric/SSLC, such as Degree, Diploma, Engineering Degree, or Course Completed Act Apprentices, are not eligible to apply for Act Apprenticeship, except for MLT where the qualification is 12th/HSC.

Other Eligibility Conditions

  • Applicants must be resident and/or registered with a local Employment Exchange within Tamil Nadu, with registration date not beyond the application’s last date, except wards of Railway employees.
  • Wards of Railway employees must submit the Railway employee’s Identity Card/Service Certificate (attested by a Gazetted Officer), along with UMID card and PPO copy as proof.
  • Vacancies for Persons with Benchmark Disabilities are reserved trade-wise, subject to permissible disability categories and a minimum of 40% relevant disability; a disability certificate from the Central/State Government is required to claim this benefit.

Age Limit

The candidate’s age will be calculated as on 7 September 2026.

  • ITI candidates: Minimum 15 years and maximum 24 years.
  • Non-ITI/Fresher candidates: Minimum 15 years and maximum 22 years.
  • SC/ST candidates: Upper-age relaxation of 5 years.
  • OBC candidates: Upper-age relaxation of 3 years.
  • PwBD candidates: Upper-age relaxation of 10 years.

Stipend

Selected apprentices will receive a stipend according to their qualification/category:

The notification also states that the prescribed minimum stipend will increase by 10% during the second year of apprenticeship training.


Selection Process

The selection of ICF apprentices will be based on a merit list prepared from the marks obtained in Class 10.

In case of a tie between candidates:

  1. The candidate who is older in age will be preferred.
  2. If the dates of birth are also the same, the candidate who passed Class 10 earlier will be considered first.

For fresher candidates, trade allotment will be based on merit, the candidate’s trade preference and availability of vacancies. Once a trade is allotted, a request for changing the trade will not be entertained. Ex-ITI candidates will be trained in the trade for which they possess the ITI certificate.


Application Fee

Candidates are required to pay a ₹100 processing fee plus applicable service charges.

However, SC, ST, PwBD and Women candidates are exempted from paying the application fee. The fee is non-refundable.
