The NCL Recruitment 2026 offers 270Assistant Foreman (Trainee) Posts vacancies at the National Thermal Power Corporation (NTPC). Interested candidates can apply online from February 11, 2026, to March 05, 2026, at the NCLwebsite (nclcil.in).

Selection Process
Eligible candidates meeting the minimum eligibility criteria as on the Crucial Date will be required to appear for a Computer-Based Test (CBT).
Selection will be based on a candidate’s relative score in the Computer-Based Test.
CBT Pattern: Total 100 Marks for 90 minutes duration (one sitting), comprising two sections:
Section A: Technical Knowledge (discipline related) – 70 Multiple Choice Questions (MCQs) of 1 mark each – 70 Marks.
Section B: General Knowledge, General Awareness, Reasoning, Verbal & Mental Ability, and Quantitative Aptitude – 30 MCQs of 1 mark each – 30 Marks.
Each question carries 01 mark. There is no penalty for wrong answers. No marks for un-attempted questions.
The question paper will be bilingual (English and Hindi). In case of any error/ambiguity in the Hindi version, the English version shall be valid and final.
Minimum Qualifying Marks (Cut-Off):
UR / EWS: 50 marks out of 100
SC / ST / ESM / OBC-NCL / PwBD: 40 marks out of 100
Computer Based Test will be conducted separately for each post.
Tie-Breaking Rule: In case of equal marks, the tie will be resolved by: (i) Higher score in Section-A; then (ii) Date of Birth – older candidates preferred; then (iii) Alphabetical order of names.
Candidates who score equal to or above the Minimum Qualifying Marks will be notified for Scrutiny/Verification of original testimonials in the order of marks scored, up to the extent positions remain unfilled.
Provisional merit panels will be published on the NCL website after resolving ties, separately for different positions.
For Assistant Foreman (Mechanical) and Assistant Foreman (Electrical), all candidates will be deemed to have applied for both the Excavation Cadre and the E&M Cadre. Separate merit lists for each cadre will be prepared; the Excavation Cadre merit panel will be prepared first, followed by the E&M Cadre, with the remaining candidates.
Provisional appointment letters will be issued to successful candidates as per their relative merit position and eligibility, with due consideration of reservation.
If the candidate is found not fulfilling the eligibility criteria during Scrutiny/Verification, Probation, or during employment, candidature/appointment shall be cancelled.
Appointment is subject to being found medically fit in the Company’s Medical Examination as per CIL’s laid down rules.
