RRC NCR GDCE Recruitment 2026 – 656 Vacancies for ALP, Technician, JE & Clerk Posts

RRC NCR GDCE Recruitment 2026: Railway Recruitment Cell (RRC), North Central Railway (NCR), Prayagraj has released GDCE Notification No. RRC/NCR/GDCE-01/2026 for filling 656 vacancies under the General Departmental Competitive Examination (GDCE) quota. The recruitment includes posts such as Assistant Loco Pilot (ALP), Technician, Junior Engineer (JE), Commercial cum Ticket Clerk and Junior Clerk cum Typist.

The notification was issued on 28 September 2026. Online applications will open on 1 October 2026, and the last date to submit the application is 30 October 2026, up to 11:59 PM. This recruitment is specifically for eligible serving regular employees of North Central Railway, excluding RPF/RPSF personnel.

Vacancy Details

A total of 656 vacancies have been notified across the ALP, Technician, Junior Engineer, and NTPC Non-Graduate categories.

Post-wise Vacancy Details

The Assistant Loco Pilot category alone contains 428 vacancies, distributed as 245 UR, 112 OBC, 49 SC and 22 ST posts.

For NTPC Non-Graduate posts, the notification provides 104 Commercial cum Ticket Clerk vacancies and 3 Junior Clerk cum Typist vacancies.

Technician Vacancy Details

Annexure E of the notification provides the detailed Technician vacancy distribution, including category-wise vacancies and medical standards.

Junior Engineer Vacancy Details

The largest JE vacancy component is JE/P-Way with 28 posts.

Educational Qualification

Educational qualifications vary according to the post.

Assistant Loco Pilot

Candidates should generally possess:

Matriculation/SSLC + ITI in an eligible trade such as Fitter, Electrician, Instrument Mechanic, Electronics Mechanic, Wireman, Mechanic Diesel, Turner, Machinist, Refrigeration & Air Conditioning Mechanic and other notified trades;

OR

Matriculation/SSLC + Course Completed Act Apprenticeship in the prescribed trade;

OR

Matriculation/SSLC + three-year Diploma in Mechanical, Electrical, Electronics or Automobile Engineering or an eligible combination of these engineering streams.

Relevant engineering degrees are also accepted instead of the diploma for ALP.

Technician-I

For Technician-I Signal/Telecom posts, qualifications include a relevant B.Sc., three-year engineering diploma or engineering degree in streams such as Physics, Electronics, Computer Science, Information Technology or Instrumentation, subject to the detailed conditions in the notification.

Technician-III

Qualifications generally include Matriculation/SSLC with ITI or Course Completed Act Apprenticeship in the relevant trade. Some notified categories permit alternative qualifications such as 10+2 with Physics and Mathematics.

Junior Engineer

JE qualifications depend on the engineering discipline. Candidates generally require a three-year engineering diploma/B.Sc. Engineering or an eligible engineering degree/combination of relevant streams.

For example, JE P-Way and related Civil Engineering posts require qualifications in Civil Engineering, while Signal & Telecommunication posts require qualifications in relevant Electrical, Electronics, IT, Communication or Computer Engineering streams.

Candidates must possess the prescribed qualification by the closing date. Those awaiting final examination results should not apply.

Age Limit

The age limit will be calculated as on 1 January 2027.

Candidates must satisfy the prescribed age requirements as on the cut-off date.

Selection Process

Depending on the post, the selection process may include:

1. Computer Based Test (CBT)
2. Computer Based Aptitude Test (CBAT) – for ALP
3. Computer-Based Typing Skill Test (CBTST) – for Junior Clerk cum Typist
4. Document Verification
5. Medical Examination

The notification provides a single-stage CBT pattern for Technician, Junior Engineer and NTPC Non-Graduate groups, while ALP has a separately prescribed examination pattern.

There is 1/3 negative marking for every incorrect answer in CBT. CBT for ALP has no negative marking.

ALP Exam Pattern

The Assistant Loco Pilot CBT consists of:

There will be a deduction of 1/3 mark for each wrong answer. The ALP syllabus covers Mathematics, Reasoning, Basic Science & Engineering and trade-specific subjects.

For ALP CBAT, candidates must obtain a minimum T-score of 42 in each test battery, irrespective of community. The final merit among candidates qualifying CBAT gives 50% weightage to CBT and 50% to CBAT.

Technician Exam Pattern

The Technician CBT contains 100 questions with a normal duration of 90 minutes.

Junior Clerk Typing Test

Candidates applying for Junior Clerk cum Typist must qualify the Computer-Based Typing Skill Test.

Required typing speed:

• English: 30 words per minute
• Hindi: 25 words per minute

The typing test is qualifying in nature, and its marks are not added while preparing the merit.

Minimum Qualifying Marks

The notification specifies the following minimum qualifying percentages:

A relaxation of 2% may apply to PwBD candidates in specified shortage situations.
