Eligibility Criteria
Candidates must possess the qualification prescribed for the discipline they are applying for.
- Trade Apprentice – Fitter
Candidates must have Matriculation with a regular full-time 2-year ITI course in Fitter recognized by NCVT/SCVT.
- Trade Apprentice – Electrician
Candidates must have Matriculation with a regular full-time 2-year ITI course in Electrician recognized by NCVT/SCVT.
- Electronics Mechanic
Candidates must have Matriculation along with a regular full-time 2-year ITI course in Electronics Mechanic recognized by NCVT/SCVT.
- Instrument Mechanic
Candidates must have Matriculation along with a regular full-time 2-year ITI course in Instrument Mechanic recognized by NCVT/SCVT.
- Machinist
Candidates must have Matriculation along with a regular full-time 2-year ITI course in Machinist recognized by NCVT/SCVT.
- Technician Apprentice
For Technician Apprentice posts, candidates require a 3-year regular full-time Diploma in the relevant engineering discipline.
The minimum marks required are:
- 50% for General, EWS and OBC-NCL candidates
- 45% for SC/ST/PwBD candidates for reserved positions
The diploma must be from an institute/university recognized by AICTE/UGC.
- Graduate Apprentice
For Graduate Apprentice, candidates must have a regular full-time graduate degree in BBA/BA/B.Com/B.Sc. with:
- 50% marks for General, EWS and OBC-NCL candidates
- 45% marks for SC/ST/PwBD candidates for reserved positions
The qualification must be from a recognized University/Institute.
- Data Entry Operator
For Data Entry Operator (Fresher), candidates must have passed Class 12th but should be below graduate level.
For the Skill Certificate Holder category, candidates must also possess a Domestic Data Entry Operator Skill Certificate issued by an awarding body recognized under the National Skill Qualifications Framework or another authority recognized by the Central Government.
Important Educational Qualification Conditions
The prescribed qualification must be obtained through a full-time regular course. Qualifications obtained through part-time, correspondence or distance learning are not eligible.
Where CGPA/OGPA or letter grades are awarded, candidates must provide the equivalent aggregate percentage as required by their institution.
Candidates with higher professional qualifications such as B.E., MBA, MCA, CA, ICWA, LLB or equivalent qualifications, or candidates pursuing such higher qualifications, are not eligible under the notification.
Age Limit
The age limit is:
- Minimum Age: 18 years
- Maximum Age: 24 years
- Age Cut-off Date: 31 August 2026
Age Relaxation
- SC/ST: 5 years
- OBC-NCL: 3 years
- PwBD: Up to 10 years
- PwBD SC/ST: Up to 15 years
- PwBD OBC-NCL: Up to 13 years

Training Duration
The apprenticeship training period is 12 months for all disciplines.
Stipend
The stipend will be paid according to the provisions of the Apprentices Act, 1961, Apprentices Rules, 1992 and applicable government guidelines.
In addition to the statutory stipend, IOCL will pay ₹2,500 per month towards miscellaneous expenses.
For Graduate and Technician Apprentices, a portion of the stipend is paid directly into the apprentice’s bank account by the Board of Apprenticeship Training (BOAT) through DBT.
Candidates must therefore have an Aadhaar-seeded bank account enabled for DBT and ensure that their NATS details, APAAR ID and e-KYC are correctly updated.

There will be no written examination and no interview.
The merit list will be prepared based on the percentage of marks obtained in the prescribed qualification. If two candidates have the same percentage, the older candidate will receive preference. If the date of birth is also the same, the candidate with higher matriculation marks will be preferred.
Preference will also be given to candidates applying for apprenticeship training for the first time.
