The Assam State Biodiversity Board (ASBB) has released the ASBB Recruitment 2026 Notification for 7 contractual vacancies. The recruitment drive includes posts such as Consultant – Biodiversity Expert, Project Associate (Wildlife) and Support Staff – Field Help.

ASBB Recruitment 2026 – Overview

Post-Wise Vacancy Details

The Assam State Biodiversity Board has announced a total of 7 vacancies for different project-based positions.

The selected candidates will work on biodiversity assessments of selected wetlands under the Assam Sustainable Wetland and Integrated Fisheries Transformation (SWIFT) Project.

Educational Qualification

Candidates must fulfil the educational qualification and experience requirements specified for their preferred position.

1. Consultant – Biodiversity Expert

• M.Sc. in Zoology or Wildlife Sciences.
• Minimum 10 years of relevant experience.
• Proficiency in English, Hindi and Assamese (both oral and written).
• Experience in biodiversity surveys, research, data collection and documentation is desirable.
• Knowledge of flora and fauna identification is preferred.
• Experience working with local communities in Assam is desirable.

2. Project Associate (Wildlife)

• M.Sc. in Zoology, Wildlife Sciences or allied subjects.
• Minimum 2 years of relevant experience.
• Proficiency in English, Hindi and Assamese (both oral and written).
• Experience in biodiversity surveys and field data collection is desirable.
• Knowledge of documentation, community interaction and computer applications is preferred.

3. Support Staff – Field Help

• Class 12th pass.
• Minimum 5 years of experience in externally aided projects.
• Experience in office work and Dak distribution is desirable.
• Candidates should be willing to travel to different districts of Assam.
• Ability to understand English, Hindi and Assamese is desirable.

Age Limit

The age limit will be calculated as of 1 October 2026.

Age Relaxation: The upper age limit for the Consultant post is relaxable by up to 5 years for retired University Professors, as per the notification.

Salary Details

Selected candidates will receive a fixed monthly remuneration according to their respective positions.

The engagement period for all three positions will be three months.

Selection Process

The selection process will be conducted as follows:

1. Application Screening: Applications submitted by candidates will be examined by the Assam State Biodiversity Board.
2. Shortlisting: Eligible and suitable candidates will be shortlisted based on their qualifications and experience.
3. Personal Interview: Only shortlisted candidates will be invited for a personal interview.
4. Final Selection: Candidates will be selected based on the prescribed selection procedure.

Note: No TA/DA will be paid to candidates attending the personal interview.

About the ASBB SWIFT Project

The selected candidates will assist the Assam State Biodiversity Board in conducting biodiversity and wildlife assessments of 74 selected wetlands (beels) across 23 districts of Assam.

The work is part of the Assam Sustainable Wetland and Integrated Fisheries Transformation (SWIFT) Project.

The major responsibilities include:

• Conducting biodiversity assessments of selected wetlands.
• Collecting information about fish, birds, reptiles, amphibians, mammals and flora.
• Identifying endangered and threatened species.
• Documenting wildlife habitats and breeding areas.
• Conducting field surveys and interacting with local communities.
• Preparing biodiversity reports and conservation recommendations.
• Supporting sustainable wetland management activities.

The primary work location will be Guwahati, although occasional travel to different districts of Assam will be required.
