Selection Process:

The selection is conducted in three stages:

Stage I – Written Examination (Post Codes 5/26 to 11/26)

  • Objective Type / Multiple Choice Questions (MCQ)
  • Total: 200 marks | 100 questions | 2 hours
  • Minimum qualifying marks: 33% aggregate
  • No negative marking
  • Candidates are shortlisted for Stage II in a 1:3 ratio (3 candidates per vacancy), subject to clearing the written exam cut-off

Stage II – PST, PET & Trade Test (Qualifying)

  • Physical Standard Test (PST): Verification of height, chest measurements, and weight
  • Physical Efficiency Test (PET): Running and other physical tasks (post-wise requirements; see below)
  • Trade Test: Only for Constable Band (Post Code 5/26) and Constable Bugler (Post Code 6/26) — proficiency in playing band/bugle instruments
  • Ex-Servicemen are exempted from the PET and Trade Test but must clear the PST
  • PST, PET, and Trade Test are qualifying in nature — marks are not counted in the final merit

Stage III – Medical Fitness Test (Qualifying)

  • All candidates who clear Stage II are subjected to a Medical Fitness Test
  • Must meet the medical standards prescribed for uniformed services
  • Qualifying in nature — no marks added to merit

Final Merit List

The final merit list is prepared based exclusively on marks obtained in the Written Examination and the candidate’s preference order of posts/departments. Stages II and III are only qualifying.
